As with all Speedy releases, Dan Carey's world-class production brings the best out of the band, creating a heady atmosphere with ethereal sound effects, intriguing sonic layers and that instantly recognisable snare sound. Opening as a dream-like waltz, subtle influences from shoegaze and trip-hop creep in before a motorik beat takes over. Haunting call and response vocals add depth to the dreamy offering, which feels poised to take off or fall asleep at any moment. The band explain: “‘Burglar' shifts between states of consciousness, like slipping in and out of a dream in the early hours of morning.
